Important: By using Unfold, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1) The Service
Unfold is a journaling application that may include features such as writing, attachments (photos/audio/sketches), reminders, search/browse, book export (PDF compilation), backups, cloud sync with provider migration, and optional end-to-end encryption ("Private Sync").
2) Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract to use Unfold. If you are under the age required in your country, use Unfold only with a parent/guardian's consent.
3) Your Content
- You own your content (journal entries, attachments, sketches, and exported books).
- You are responsible for your content and for complying with applicable laws.
- We do not claim ownership over your journal content or exported materials.
- Books you create are yours to save, share, or print as you wish.
4) Backups, Cloud Sync, and End-to-End Encryption
- If you enable cloud sync/backup, you authorize Unfold to store and retrieve your data with your chosen provider (e.g., iCloud Drive or Google Drive), depending on what you connect.
- Private Sync (E2EE): if enabled, supported content, attachments, and books are encrypted on-device before upload. You are responsible for keeping your encryption password and recovery key safe. If you lose both, you may permanently lose access to encrypted data.
- Limits of E2EE: some metadata may remain unencrypted (for example, collection/folder names and basic timestamps) to support organization and sync coordination.
- Provider migration: you may switch between cloud providers (e.g., from iCloud to Google Drive). During migration, data is copied to the new provider. You can choose to remove data from the previous provider after a successful migration. Interrupted migrations can be resumed or canceled.
- Exports/Backups: if you export content, create books, or create backups, treat exported files as sensitive and store them securely.
- Cloud services are provided by third parties and may have their own terms and availability.
5) Subscriptions, Trials, and Billing
- Some features may require a paid subscription.
- Trials, pricing, renewal terms, and available plans are displayed in the app before purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID/Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store/Google Play account settings.
6) Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where allowed by law.
- Use the app to violate laws or infringe intellectual property rights.
- Interfere with the app's normal operation or security.
7) Privacy
Your use of Unfold is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
8) Disclaimers
Unfold is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that any data will never be lost. You should maintain your own backups where appropriate.
9) Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unfold and its creators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill.
10) Termination
You may stop using Unfold at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.
11) Changes
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
